Conscious Eating in Melbourne - The Yellow Door, Albert Park
I love going out for breakfast or lunch at the weekend, taking it easy, reading the weekend papers and drinking tea. I'm always looking for places to go that have healthy yummy food, a vibe and if possible are sustainable and conscious minded. The Yellow Door Cafe in Albert Park is certainly giving it a go!!
The food is fab, today I had scrambled eggs, avocado, smoked salmon and organic shoots on sourdough toast and the boy had their burger special (which apparently is a hit). The menu touts free range eggs, organic veggies where possible and all together looks to be taking the bigger picture into account!!
My brekky was delish, really good quality ingredients.........which make it all so much tastier don't you think. The Courtyard out the back is really chilled, well worth checking out (I love the little potted herbs placed around the tables)!!
Another few of my favourites
Combi Coffee in Albert Park, for fairtrade organic coffee, fab chai and simple snack organic food offerings where possible (avocado and tomato on sourdough and their dark chocolate ginger bread cookies are a big hit).
il Fornaio at the bottom of Fitzroy st in St Kilda is fab for thoughtful menu entries such as Roger Rabbits Girlfriend (heirloom carrots, goats curd, walnuts, honey and multigrain toast) and a selection of porridges fit for pudding status. The design of the cafe is warehouse chic and the staff are friendly and funky with some great tunes playing. Coffee is divine......organic coffee and milk!! They also sell Panela (unrefined whole cane sugar.....much less of the down side that white sugar)
What about in your area? Any organic, conscious eating, delicious and awesome little finds?
