What do Kylie and Lemons have in common?

I'll cut straight to the chase........body brushing and lemon juice (or apple cider vinegar) are two easy detox tricks which can be incorporated into your daily routine with minimal fuss!

Body Brushing - How to

For a thorough guide to body brushing check out the Bodecare site which looks a fantastic source of information on dry brushing as well as having some great products (not tried and tested by moi, although I do use a single sided brush mit which is wonderful, you can see this here.  Otherwise your local pharmacy should stock brushes!).

In a nutshell, before showering, I get undressed, starting at the soles of the feet (feels amazing) brushing once or twice in every spot always towards the heart, light strokes up the legs, bum, lower back (another amazing focus spot), brush over the shoulders and then arms in the air and brush down towards the heart, around and under the armpit / boob.  It takes me less than 5 minutes (although you can take as long as you like).  Click here for more details from Australia's own super model Miranda Kerr's blog.

So why would I body brush you ask?

This swift little trick assists the lymphatic system in shifting toxins from the body, improves circulation (think shifting hail damage ladies aka cellulite), moves dead skin cells (they used to do this in my great grand mothers time.....well bathing wasn't a daily occurence) in effect exfoliating!! And it certainly wakes me up!  Check here for more details on benefits.....que thoughts of the Kylie bum :)

Try it in the morning prior to showering.  Great to do every day, if that's too much just a couple of times a week.  If you forget a few times (fall of the wagon), pick up the brush and clamber back on next time.

LEMON!!

Luscious Lemons.  It's soooo easy.  First thing in the morning, squeeze half a lemon into warm water (I use room temperature water with a splash of boiling water from the kettle).  Best to have luke warm and not hot water which may affect the enamel of the teeth.  SO!!  Half a lemon squeezed into a tall glass of water.  Drink it down and bob's your uncle!

Why the lovely lemon!?!

Lemon is one of the best detoxifiers and general blood purifier.  First thing in the morning it kick starts digestive juices, improves liver function and bowel movements (get that stuff moving......out out out). Don Tolman explains that it kills intestinal worms and dissolves gallstones, it has also been used to help eliminate kidney stones.

If you don't have lemons handy, keep a bottle of apple cider vinegar in the fridge (it bosts all sorts of health benefits) and add a glug of it to a glass of luke warm water instead!!  Bottoms up.

It's a wrap

Two little detox lovelies to include in your routine.....easy peasy!

Do you have any super simple health tips to share?
