The Boutenko family were one of (if not) THE original Green Smoothie champions. Their website and books are fantastic. They also have so much integrity and passion for this!!

This is a clip of Dr. Mehmet Oz, he is fantastic and great at summing up why you’d go for a veggie smoothie.

I have kicked off my green smoothie fest again by blending an apple, pear, kiwi, some frozen berries and adding a teaspoon of dried green powder (chlorella, spirulina, wheatgrass and barley grass).
Green Smoothie Basics
You could add banana, papaya, watermelon, celery, parsley, cucumber, lettuce, spinach.........the possibilities are endless. Start by cutting up a piece of fruit and i.e. celery. Just roughly chop, add to the blender with a little water and blend away. Keep adding whatever else you fancy and wahoo..........sip your way to super powers!!
For Blenders, the crème de la crème is the Vitamix. It is super smooth and super expensive (currently on my wishlist), in the mean time I have a cute red Breville Blender, $80, does a fab job!!

Google away for blender reviews if you like and for more green smoothie recipes.
P.S. I started off with a hand held blender, it is do-able, however the smoothie resembled what can only be referred to as baby food with hair in.........clearly for the die hards alone!!
Also, drink it out of a wine glass.........:)
