Be Present....

"What day is it?" asked Pooh
"It's today", squeaked Piglet
"My favorite day", said Pooh

We can learn a lot from Pooh!!  As a wise man said to my mum who said to me "Yesterday is gone forever and tomorrow never comes".  The only time that matters is right now.  What are you doing?  Are you present?  Who are you with?  Are you listening intently to them?

Enjoy today!!

Blissful Bowen!

I believe in fresh air, clean water, nutritious food, a clockwork digestive system, exercise and a cared for spine.  I use yoga and Bowen treatment to look after my spine.

This is what The Natural Approach Healing Centre says about Bowen therapy....

"Bowen is a remedial body technique that is extremely gentle and relaxing. It empowers the body's own healing resources to achieve balance and harmony which then results in lasting relief from pain and discomfort, often with substantial relief after the first session.

Salt of the earth!!

Not all salts are made equal!!  The benefits of unrefined salt are far superior to that of the refined table salt widely available in our supermarkets.  Most of you will be fully aware of the endless campaign against salt.  Some clarity needed my friends!!
Table Salt uncovered
The war against salt refers not to the whole salt used for millennia by traditional people but the highly refined chemical variety that is 97.5% or more sodium chloride, with addition of anti-caking chemicals, potassium iodide, and sugar (dextrose) to stabilise the iodine.  Part of the process can involve heating the salt to 1200F in doing so altering the chemical structure. Despite the research, does this sound like it would be good for us?
Unrefined Sea / Himalayan Salt
Unrefined sea salt is all together different and can have as many as 92 different minerals full of benefits to the body (all of which are stripped from table salt).  Note that some ‘sea salts’ are still refined, so check the salt really is unrefined, examples of good products include; Himalayan (pink in colour), Celtic (grey) and Maldon (in the uk).

Perkier day by day!!!

Ever need a little pick me up?  Have you noticed how surrounding yourself with happy people feels good?  Do you sometimes wake up and feel down in the mouth for no real reason at all?  Feeling good and balanced and relaxed can be something that is inborn in us, however no matter what your happiness quotient......there are many things you can do to lift your mood and keep you bouncing along day to day.

Ginger Magic!!

This post is inspired by my muma....who has gone ginger nuts this week!!

The benefits of ginger include better circulation, improved digestion, assists with pre menstrual cramps, eases headaches, combats colds and flu....and much more.

From an Ayurveda perspective, ginger is used to counteract Vata (more on that another time).

So let us get practical!

A bit (lot) of air guitar!!!

30 minutes of exercise a day they say......the benefits are plenty say many sources!!!

Sources aside, I say try it yourself and feel the effects!!!

What works for me is to pick a range of things that I love to do.  These include cycling, yoga, walking, zumba (my new love) and cardio classes (with a friend to laugh my way through).  If I have to set foot in a gym, then I usually look like a sad puppy...I'm really not a fan.  What's the point in doing something if it doesn't feel good when there are plenty of things that do!?!?!

errrrr maybe not.......aka I wish!!

Chilling with a GT!!

I'm sure you've heard more than a few times of the benefits of green tea!!??!!

I quite often have a cup.  I don’t mind the taste (it's best to find a brand you like, and another tip is to brew for just 2 minutes or as per instructions, the longer you brew the more bitter the taste).

With all the benefits listed one that sticks out for me is the report of the calming effect green tea has.

Well I now have first hand experience of the effects.............
