Salt of the earth!!

Not all salts are made equal!!  The benefits of unrefined salt are far superior to that of the refined table salt widely available in our supermarkets.  Most of you will be fully aware of the endless campaign against salt.  Some clarity needed my friends!!
Table Salt uncovered
The war against salt refers not to the whole salt used for millennia by traditional people but the highly refined chemical variety that is 97.5% or more sodium chloride, with addition of anti-caking chemicals, potassium iodide, and sugar (dextrose) to stabilise the iodine.  Part of the process can involve heating the salt to 1200F in doing so altering the chemical structure. Despite the research, does this sound like it would be good for us?
Unrefined Sea / Himalayan Salt
Unrefined sea salt is all together different and can have as many as 92 different minerals full of benefits to the body (all of which are stripped from table salt).  Note that some ‘sea salts’ are still refined, so check the salt really is unrefined, examples of good products include; Himalayan (pink in colour), Celtic (grey) and Maldon (in the uk).
Me

Having good quality salt in my diet has assisted my digestion (in particular the Indian Black Salt – a couple of pinches in a large glass of water every now and again), my stomach is much more settled and less full of gas!

Salt Intake
Don Tolman says to have a pinch of salt in each glass of water and Phillip Day advises half a teaspoon for every 10 glasses of water (click on the link and scroll down to the weekly health tip)!!
Now despite the fact that I drink it in water and use salt to enhance the flavour of my food, i'm not suggesting you go crazy with the salt, especially if your diet is currently full of the stuff (processed foods etc...), you must of course use your common sense and what feels right for you / check with your GP / health professional etc...  I eat a largely plant based diet of wholefoods and am healthy so therefore benefit greatly from the addition!!  At a minimum, replacing your table salt for Himalayan, Celtic or a good quality sea salt for your current usage is a must!!  And remember, water is just as important!!!
Last pearls of wisdom!!
Paul Pitchford writes in ‘Healing with Wholefoods’............ “Whole salt from the sea has a mineral profile most similar to that of our blood.”
Don Tolman writes the Top Essentials of Live:
  1. Oxygen;
  2. Water;
  3. Salt;
  4. Potassium;
  5. Exercise.
