Coconut Water

Coconut water has been the ‘in’ thing over the last year or so; particularly with the likes of Madonna touting it’s benefits!!!  I became a fan as soon as I had a coconut (straight from the coconut) in Thailand......delish!!!  There are many benefits to drinking coconut water including that it is packed full of electrolytes and claims include that it is a near perfect match to human plasma!!
The drink is certainly tasty, and is assured to rehydrate you.  Coconut water is a cooling drink and is particularly beneficial it hot climates (or in summer) as well as for those people who are naturally hot......under the collar or just in general.  For those of us (me included) who tend to naturally be on the cool side (in the Indian Medicine branch called Ayurveda, this is referred to as Vata) then coconut water is best consumed in moderation.  For the Pitta amongst us.....drink up...........
This is a great quiz to find out your dosha (mind-body types).
Having tried quite a few brands of coconut water that are on the market here in Melbourne I have stumbled across a gold medallist.  I always look for the brands that don’t have sugar, preservatives etc... added and when my boyfriend said he had tried a ridiculously yummy coconut water I didn’t even bat an eyelid (thinking it would have been packed full of added flavourings or sugar to tempt his tastebuds).  Then, one day he bought be a bottle to try and oh my golly gosh I seriously could not believe it was not loaded full of sugar.  Having checked the bottle several times, sure enough it is pure coconut water with nothing added.  Hard to believe as it is sweet and delightful.  I recommend trying if you come across this brand.....or better still, hop on a plane to the happy land of Thailand!!!!

Three flavours to choose from; the one with pulp in is my favourite!!
